5 weeks later.

So..… 5 weeks later and the next blog post is up. I have written this so many times, but not gotten around to finishing or uploading. Such is the life of a busy expat!
I am finally settling in to the routine of class life in Singapore. My class is an eclectic bunch of students from all over the world – Japan, England, Australia, Ireland, Thailand, India and the list goes on... I have 19 students and similar to home – the ability range is enormous! I am really enjoying working with the younger students. We have a whole new team on year 3 and as much as I was hoping to keep my head down, have taken on the role of year 3 co-ordinator.
Work is longer hours – 8.30 – 3.30 and this week saw the beginning of clubs so on a Monday afternoon we also run a club after school until 4.30.
The end of the first week of school saw a ball for the school staff across all campuses. It took a while for the drinks to start flowing (something we were all looking forward to considering how expensive it is to drink in Singapore). And after many speeches and singing happy birthday to the owner of the schools, it was finally time to relax, eat and drink. Over the course of the night, each of the campuses performed and our dance was to Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison and the Indian version. Lots of fun. But happy it is over and there is no more dance practice.... Until next month when it is time to start preparing for Diwali.
note number of wine glasses per capita....

The highlight of the ball was the prizes....... The grand prize was $3000....... I was stoked to win $200SGD.
The past few weeks have seen two long weekends – one I was able to sneak over to Dili and spend some much needed time with my man.

The second a group of us set off for Phuket due to a serious case of cabin fever! It was an absolutely amazing trip – food, beach / pool time, drinks, massages, nails and hair treatments… aaah bliss! The highlight was the last day when we had booked a speedboat tour of PhiPhi islands and a few other spots. Unfortunately we woke to set in, quite heavy rain but after much trying to persuade and get out of the tour, this was not a possibility. Over at the ferry terminal, the tour operators were telling people if they could go on a different day that would be best as the weather was so poor. Still, we were unable to get out of the tour as this was our last day.
Thankfully as we were getting ready to get onto the boat, the rain stopped and the tiniest patch of blue crept through the clouds. Over the next hour whilst we were on the speedboat getting thrown about like popcorn as we carved up the Andaman Sea, this patch grew until there wasn’t a cloud in sight. The day turned out to be the most glorious, incredible day and I highly recommend to anyone to go and stay at Phi Phi over any other beach on Thailand. Incredible.

The most incredible random beach in the middle of the ocean..... I could have stayed shipwrecked here for days.........

The last two weeks have been a blur of work, World Cup, and socialising!
Next week the Grand Prix is on and I am considering getting some tickets or else will just go down to Boat Harbour to check it out. With that and the World Cup, the atmosphere should be amazing!
Today is the first nice day we have had in Singapore – it has been either hazy and overcast or rainy. Today, there are blue skies so it is time for some pool action!
Turns out I really do belong in Singapore.
